7 Android TV Apps I Use to Make My TV Better — Premium Feel, No Ads

I have been using Android TV and Android TV boxes for a long time. . One thing I feel is, TV can do many things, but many useful things are still missing.

For example, file manager is not good, local media player is basic, remote can be lost anytime, and if you have 5.1 home theatre then normal stereo audio does not use all speakers properly. Because of these small problems, I created some apps for my own use and later published them on Google Play.

Here are some apps which I use on TV and mobile. Here are seven Android TV apps I use to make my TV more useful

TV File Manager –

On Android TV, file management is not always easy. Sometimes I want to copy a movie from USB, open a local file, manage folders or access files from network.

For this I use TV File Manager.

It is made for TV remote, so navigation is simple. You can use it for internal storage, USB and supported network storage. If you use USB drive with your TV, this app can be useful.

Upmixify 5.1+ Video Player –

I created this player mainly because I wanted a video player where audio is also important. Many video players are good for video, but if you have 5.1 speakers or home theatre, then audio experience also matters. Upmixify 5.1+ Video Player can play local video files and is made for TV use.

I mostly use it when I have movies or videos saved in local storage or USB.

Upmixify 5.1+ Audio Player –

This app is for music and audio files. If you have a TV connected with 5.1 speakers, soundbar or home theatre, then normal stereo audio may not use your setup properly. I use this player for local music and multichannel audio. It also has audio processing options for stereo and surround listening.

Upmixify 5.1+ Audio Converter –

This is one of my main apps. Sometimes I have old MP3 or stereo audio files, but I want to play them on my 5.1, 7.1 or 9.1 setup.

So I created this converter. It can convert mono or stereo audio into 5.1, 7.1 or 9.1 channel audio. Of course, it cannot create original studio surround sound from a mono file, but it can process the sound and send different parts of audio to different channels.

I mainly use it for old songs, recordings and stereo audio.

Upmixify FTA Player –

This app is not only a local media player. I use it for local files, network media and supported streams. It also supports things like DLNA and SAT>IP. If you have media on another device in your home network, you can use this type of setup without always depending on internet streaming apps.

Upmixify Media Server –

Sometimes I have a file on one device and I want to play it on another device. For this, I use Upmixify Media Server. It can help share media on local network. I like this type of system because everything does not need to go through cloud or online server. If your devices are on same Wi-Fi network, local sharing can still be useful.

Upmixify TV Remote –

We all know one problem — TV remote is missing when we need it. For this I created Upmixify TV Remote. It can connect with supported TVs and TV boxes using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth options. I also like phone remote because phone screen can show more buttons than a normal remote.

For example, number keys, navigation controls and different remote modes can be easier on phone.

I do not think a Smart TV should be useful only for Netflix, YouTube or other streaming apps. I also want to use my own files, USB drive, local network, home theatre and phone with my TV. That is the main reason I made these apps. Some people may need only one of them. Some may use more.

I am also improving these apps slowly when I find any problem or when users give feedback. If you use Android TV or Google TV, maybe one of these apps can be useful for you too.
